Trout Lake, Vancouver, Canada

Nothing beats getting out to the lake. Especially, early in the morning before the flock of visitors and their dogs. Vancouver weather reminds me of home. Back in England, where the temperatures are mild, the mornings are a little frosty and our lakes can get tucked in under a blanket of fog.

On this spring morning, golden hour sees in the sun set against a bright blue sky, melting away the frost and lighting up the trees with a warm glow.

Trout Lake is a gem, found in John Hendry Park on the east side of Vancouver. For the past few weeks, I’ve been lucky to call it my local green space, being just a kilometer from my apartment. Since first finding it, I’ve come down here almost every day – either to run, take my morning coffee, or hang out with a friend.

It’s best feature is arguably the beach, which sits on the south side looking back to the mountains. If you find yourself in the area, be sure to visit.

Nab yourself a log and be ready to spend all your time in this tranquil spot.
